This is the season for giving! You ever wonder why that at the birth of Jesus giving is the main attitude of everyone whether they are a follower of God or a follower of their own way?
God’s very essence is love which is clear in the Holy Scriptures in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. He gave us the best gift one could ever offer to humanity. Therefore, giving would be a natural centre of the birth of His son. God didn’t stop there through His Son Jesus God the Father kept on giving His truth, His grace and His Holy Spirit. The ultimate gift was the shedding of His blood as a payment for all of humanity’s sin. So giving centers around the life of Jesus. Why? Because giving is who He is, it is the essence of His eternal being, also in God the Father’s being, the Holy Spirit’s being and in everyone he gave the right to be His children.
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,” (John 1:12 ESV)
So giving should come natural to a new-born again believer but sadly it doesn’t,some are still selfish self-centered people looking for their own gain. To other Christians it comes easy. Unfortunately we have to learn the hard way through a series of trials, hardships and bad choices. It is through circumstances that we face that we learn to be compassionate and loving as well as giving unto others. We were born in sin naturally thinking of ourselves first and then in schools we are taught that me, me,me is the only person that really matters in life until we come to Christ. Everything that we learn in scripture is about giving with no expectation of getting anything in return. It is about loving unconditionally, caring beyond human reasoning and walking the extra mile for someone else. Jesus example to us to serve others even stooping to a slaves job of washing the disciples feet.
To the stubborn, to those who refuse the gift of God’s salvation will go their own way, forging through life with vim and vigor however, your life no matter how much you gain; troubles, unrest, hatred, separation, anger, bitterness and mistrust will follow you and be the core of your existence. The empty joyless hollow feeling inside you will carry until you pass from this life to the next.
Until you as sinner hand over your life to God’s loving control accept His plan of salvation to be subjected to His commands of His truth, you will never know the joy of serving him, the joy in following His commands, or the truth of His love and faithfulness.
So giving is the core of every Christians purpose in life to reveal to the world who God is and the sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus. For God wants to show His love through you and me to those who don’t deserve it. Then Jesus will radiate through His people His truth in our daily every day walk in our mundane activities that He is real and He is what they’ve been seeking, searching for all their lives.
So give until it hurts for God will bless you abundantly not only in this life but also in the life to come….give for God created this in the core of every human ever created in His image. That is why everyone loves to give at Christmas time because we were meant too. The true meaning of Christmas is God’s only Son ……who…..gave.
